About Nightmare Runners
Nightmare Runners is a knockout race where the course itself is the cruelest competitor. A crowd of runners charges through nighttime tracks stuffed with hidden traps, wandering monsters and last-gasp ambushes, and each stage prunes the field until only the lucky and the stubborn are left standing.
Survival is equal parts reflex and prophecy. Every race throws different hazards at the pack — crushing contraptions that telegraph for exactly one heartbeat, monsters that wander into the lane at the worst moment, and traps that punish runners who blindly follow the crowd. Staying near the front gives you first look at trouble; lurking at the back means trusting strangers to bleed the danger for you. Both strategies work right up until they catastrophically do not.
Race solo against a lobby of online and bot rivals, or line up beside a friend in two-player mode and enjoy watching them get flattened by a trap they'll swear they never saw. Coins from your runs unlock fresh skins and characters, so even elimination rounds pay out something — usually experience, occasionally dignity.
How to play
| Desktop | Solo: move with WASD or the arrow keys and jump with Space. Two-player: the first runner uses WASD with G to jump, the second uses the arrow keys with L. |
|---|---|
| Mobile | On-screen buttons handle movement and jumping, with separate control sets when two runners share the screen. |
Tips & tricks
- Watch the runners ahead of you — a rival suddenly swerving means a trap is about to make itself known.
- Jump early over gap traps; the game's timing rewards commitment over last-instant hops.
- In two-player mode, resist the urge to block your friend — the traps punish both of you for crowding.
- Spend coins on skins freely; cosmetics change nothing, but morale is a real stat.
