About Castel Wars Modern
The pixel castle-battle series jumps forward in time, trading medieval stone for moon bases, neon city rooftops and sci-fi arenas. Two sides still collide in short, explosive rounds, but the toolkit is thoroughly contemporary: firearms, futuristic armor, destructible cover and a block-building mechanic that lets you wall off a lane or bridge a gap mid-fight. Pick a map, pick a mode, and the round starts before you have time to feel nostalgic about the original.
Modes are where this edition earns its shelf space. Dedicated duels settle one-on-one grudges, team battles turn the arena into a scrappy firefight, and the zombie mode drops both of you into a survival scramble against waves of the shambling undead that just keep coming. Weapons spawn across the map and swing the fight hard — a pistol duel can become a rocket argument in seconds, and knowing when to hold a sword for the throw instead of the swing is a genuine skill.
As a couch game it is beautifully petty: building a block wall right in front of your rival, or throwing a sword across the map for a humiliation kill, is exactly the kind of story that gets retold. Against the computer it doubles as a crisp shooter warm-up with real map variety.
How to play
| Desktop | The blue player moves with W, A, S and D, presses S to place a block, hits with E, and holds the attack key to throw a held sword, tapping Q to swap weapons; the red player uses the arrow keys, the down arrow to place blocks, L to hit, and the same hold-to-throw rule. |
|---|---|
| Mobile | Touch controls put movement, block placement, attacking and weapon swapping on screen buttons for both players. |
Tips & tricks
- Blocks win fights before they start — wall off a corridor, then fight the battle on your own terms.
- In zombie rounds keep moving in wide circles; standing still turns you into a bite-sized checkpoint.
- A held sword thrown across the map deals serious damage, so treat every melee pickup as a ranged option too.
- Swap weapons the moment a heavier gun spawns; the window between pickup and your rival noticing is free damage.
- On low-gravity moon maps, jump arcs are longer than they look — lead your shots accordingly.
